March 18, 2026

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to Binani Air Global Services, clearing the airline to commence scheduled flight operations, Prime Business Africa reports.

The certificate was formally presented on Wednesday in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director-General of Civil Aviation, Chris Najomo, commended the airline’s resilience and determination throughout the certification process. He described the development as a historic breakthrough, particularly noting the emergence of a female-led airline in an industry traditionally dominated by men.

Najomo praised the airline’s founder, Aishatu Binani Dahiru, and her management team for their persistence, highlighting their ability to meet stringent regulatory requirements despite numerous challenges.

He, however, cautioned that obtaining the AOC is only the beginning of a more demanding phase, urging the airline’s leadership to prioritise professionalism, strategic planning, and strict adherence to safety and operational standards.

“There is no room for shortcuts in the aviation industry,” he stressed.

In her remarks, Binani expressed appreciation to the NCAA for its guidance and professionalism during the certification process, describing the journey as both challenging and rewarding.

She also acknowledged the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, commending their efforts in fostering an enabling environment for the growth of the aviation sector.
