Embattled Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari would be arraigned before the Federal High Court today (Monday,  7 March 2022) for eight count charges of attempting to bribe an official of The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Kyari hoped to part with $61,000 to facilitate the release of seized cocaine as it was revealed that the ‘super cop’ worked with a drug cartel that operated in Nigeria, Ethiopia and Brazil.

The disgraced officer who led the team that arrested kidnap kingpin ‘Evans’ was arrested by the Police Force on 14th February 2022.

The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, in a statement by his Media Aide, Umar Gwandu, last week revealed that the Nigerian Government was ready to extradite Kyari to the United States to face charges over his alleged involvement in a $1.1 million Internet fraud allegedly perpetrated by disgraced fraudster, Ramon Olorunwa Abass a.k.a Hushpuppi.

The US justice Department revealed that Kyari will be facing the charges filed in 2021 but declined to speak further on the process of his extradition.

Thom Mrozek, the Director of media relations of the United States Attorney’s Office said of the extradition:

“We will not have any comment in relation to a pending extradition request for any defendant.”

“In relation to Mr Kyari, he already faces charges that we filed last year in Los Angeles after a federal grand jury issued an indictment.”

“I can tell you that all criminal defendants in the United States are entitled to legal representation.”
