Yakubu Dogara, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives and leading supporter of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)  and Festus Keyamo, a federal minister and Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential campaign director, took to their Twitter handles on Sunday to fight one another after President Muhammadu Buhari tweeted his support for Tinubu in the February 25 presidential election.

“Today in Lafia, Nasarawa State, I delivered my message: VOTE AsiwajuBola Ahmed Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria, and vote Governor  Abdullahi Sule for a 2nd term ! I have known Asiwaju for more than 20 years; he will give his best to Nigeria,” Buhari tweeted on Saturday.

@MBuhari) tweeted at 5:12 pm on Sat, Feb 04, 2023.

Dogara, while responding to Buhari’s tweet, described the President’s message as a “satire”, not meant to be taken seriously by Nigerians. “I know that PMB loves to crack jokes but I didn’t know he will escalate it to the level of satire,” Dogara said on his Twitter handle.

“Asiwaju ‘ll give his best to Nigeria, really? Fake certificates, fake parentage, golden triangle escapades, raketeering, No, PMB, Nigeria does not deserve his best, but we get the satire,” he said in reference to Mr President’s request for support for APC’s Tinubu.

But Tinubu’s Campaign Director-General,  Keyamo, came hard on Dogra for making light of Mr President’s endorsement for Tinubu and denigrating his principal as well. “My brother and Law school mate, “YakubDogara, this tweet is beneath you. You are actually pained by the support of PMB for @officialABAT, two leaders who have stayed triue to their beliefs and causes, wanderer and back-stabber that you’ve always been,” he said.

The former Speaker Dogara fired back: “My brother, I have a name for you but because it’s not a good one, I won’t say it as a cost of friendship. Yes, we were mates at Law School, but I am waiting for you to win a councilorship election first so we can be mates in politics. Learn to punch below your weight category.”

“In spite of what we now know and what you have said before about your candidate, we haven’t rushed to the courts, yet you feel so entitled to call us names! My good friend, the law I studied was to save me from the morass of propaganda by gaslighters-in-chief and their ilks,” Dogara told Keyamo regarding the Buhari’s tweet.
