Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi Dies In Helicopter Crash

Iranian state media confirmed on Monday that President Ebrahim Raisi has died following a helicopter crash in a mountain region of East Azerbaijan province. The crash also claimed the lives of Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other senior officials.

The helicopter, carrying a total of nine individuals, went missing on Sunday afternoon. Rescue teams had been scouring the area since then. By early Monday, relief workers found the wreckage. State television announced the sad news of Raisi’s death, Saying, “The servant of Iranian nation, Ayatollah Ebrahim Raisi has achieved the highest level of martyrdom whilst serving the people.”
