To deepen its engagement with consumers on the need to imbibe the attitude of safe and responsible drinking, International Breweries Plc is organising  what it called a ‘Smart-drinking roundtable session on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

According to the notice of invitation, the session centers on the theme, “Enhancing the Social Consciousness Around Smart Drinking: A Collective Responsibility of Stakeholders.”

It will be held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Commerce House, Henry Fajemirokun Hall, No. 1 Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, Lagos by 10 am.

International Breweries Plc which produces Hero, Trophy, Eagle, Budweiser lager beers, Beta Malt, and a host of other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in Nigeria, is a subsidiary of ABInBev, a multinational brewery company.

Smart drinking is a global campaign aimed at promoting responsible drinking, highlighting the need to shun harmful drinking practices which are not good for consumers. The concept promotes moderate consumption so that consumers can always have a positive experience with beer.

A report released last month by Oxford Economics titled “Global Beer Sector Economic Footprint,” revealed that the sector contributed $555 billion of Global Added Value to the global GDP in 2019 and supported an estimated 23 million jobs directly and indirectly.

The same report which was commissioned by World Wide Brewing Alliance (WBA), also indicated that out of the 70 countries surveyed, Nigeria ranked 30th and that the country’s volume accounted for 0.86% of the $266.9 billion global sales.
