I’m Not The Dead ‘Papa Ajasco’ – Ex-lead Actor Clarifies Death Story

Veteran actor, Abiodun Ayoyinka, has made a public appearance just to prove that he is not dead. This follows media reports on the demise of one of the lead characters of the popular comedy series, ‘Papa Ajasco.’

The stand-in character for ‘Papa Ajasco,’ Femi Ogunrombi, was the actor who died on Saturday as revealed by one of the members of the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTAP), Shuab Husseini, in a social media post.

Reacting to the news of ‘Papa Ajasco’s death, Ayoyinka quickly released a personal video on Sunday, thanking his well-wishers for their concern for his life.

“My name is Abiodun Ayoyinka, popularly known as Papa Ajasco,” Ayoyinka said with his characteristic smile and the usually repeated slaps on the middle of his bald head.

“I’m not dead. I’m still alive and thank you very much my fans out there for your concerns,” said the comedian who rounded off his video message with the humorous parting of his bald hair.

The actor was replaced by the late Ogunrombi in the cast when he stepped down from the series.

The comedy is broadcast on some of the major Nigerian television stations. The series is also popular in Ghana.

The drama series is produced by prolific writer, Wale Adenuga.

Other drama series in the Wale Adenuga stable include: Binta My Daughter, Ikebe Super and Super Story.

He has been part of cast in some Nollywood movies and radio dramas including Blood Money 2, Scores To Settle, Dead End 2, Another Campus Tale and Battle Line.

Aside mainstream media and the entertainment industry, he has interests in scouting/unearthing of talents in the sports and creative sectors, exports business and property development.
