Bulls Charge Ahead As NGX Shatters Records As Market Cap Surpasses N50trn

Over N10.90 billion was lost during trading on Monday, January 19, as the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) declined to N106.34 trillion, from the N106.35 trillion recorded on Friday, January 16.

A slight decline was also recorded in the all-share index, which decreased by 17 basis points, from 166,129.5 ASI to 166,112.5.

On the trading floor, equity traders exchanged 629.60 million shares in 57,858 deals, worth N14.75 billion, however, during trading the previous day, they traded 539.88 million shares in 48,023 deals, valued at N16.71 billion.

Top five gainers

  • Champion Brew’s share price increased by N1.75 kobo to rise from N17.50 kobo to N19.25 kobo per share.
  • LotusHal15’s share value grew by N10.20 kobo, from N102 to N112.20 kobo per share.
  • Learn Africa ended trading at N7.15 kobo per share, from N6.50 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.65 kobo.
  • NCR gained N12.85 kobo to end trading at N141.40 kobo, having opened with N128.55 kobo.
  • Tripple Gee’s share value was up by N0.53 kobo, after closing at N5.86 kobo from N5.33 per share.

Top five losers

  • IMG’s share price depreciated by N3.85 kobo, dwindling from N38.70 kobo to N34.85 kobo per share.
  • HM Call recorded a N0.42 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.83 kobo after opening with N4.25 kobo per share.
  • Living Trust lost N0.47 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N4.44 kobo from N4.91 kobo per share.
  • Ikeja Hotel recorded a N2.55 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N32.50 kobo after opening with N35.05per share.
  • Union Dicon reported a decline of N0.55 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N9.50 kobo to end trading at N9 per share.

Top five trading equities

  • NSLTECH reported that 83.30 million shares valued at N98.20 million were traded on its floor.
  • Access Holdings recorded 52.87 million shares valued at N359.36 million.
  • NSLTECH saw investors trade 37.73 million of its shares valued at N1.21 billion.
  • Jaiz Bank recorded 39.73 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N103.10 million.
  • Fidelity Bank reported that traders exchanged 23.69 million shares valued at N473.45 million.
