Ibom Air to Launch First International Flight from Uyo to Accra May 2

May 1, 2026

Akwa Ibom State is set to record a major aviation milestone on Saturday as Ibom Air commences its first international flight from Victor Attah International Airport to Kotoka International Airport, Prime Business Africa reports.

The inaugural flight, scheduled for May 2, 2026, will depart Uyo for Accra, marking the official commencement of international operations at the airport. A return flight from Accra to Uyo is expected on Sunday, May 3, establishing a new regional air link between Nigeria and Ghana.

The development follows the Federal Government’s approval in November 2025 granting the Uyo-based airport full international status, a move that paved the way for cross-border commercial operations.
