Stock Market Valuation Rises To N155.99trn — Up By N297bn

The equity market closed in positive territory for the second time this week as stocks rose by 0.04%. Investors traded N15.07bn worth of shares.

Trading closed on Friday with N155.99 trillion as market capitalisation for the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market.

The market capitalisation increased by N297.78 billion when compared to the N155.69 trillion recorded on Thursday.

The all-share index (ASI) expanded from 241,815.32 ASI to 242,277.81 ASI, representing an increase of 462.49 basis points.

Over 1.87 billion shares were traded by equity traders in 92,353 deals, worth N104.29 billion, surpassing the 805,70 million shares traded in 79,615 deals, valued at N45,45 billion, on Thursday.

Top five gainers

  • FTN Cocoa’s share price increased by N0.50 kobo, from N5 to N5.50 kobo per share.
  • BUA Cement’s share value grew by N38 from N380 to N418 per share.
  • Chemical Allied Products’ share appreciated by N13.20 kobo to end trading at N145.20 kobo, having opened with N132.
  • UAC Nigeria’s share ended trading at N181.50 kobo per share, from N165 per share – indicating an increase of N16.50 kobo.
  • Zichis’ share value was up by N1.98 kobo, after closing at N21.78 kobo from N19.80 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • ALEX share price depreciated by N1.05 dwindling from N10.55 kobo to N9.50 kobo per share.
  • Royal Exchange recorded a N0.15 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N1.36 kobo after opening with N1.51 kobo per share.
  • Legend Internet recorded a N0.55 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N5.35 kobo after opening with N5.90 kobo per share.
  • Austin Laz lost N0.39 kobo in its share price, to sell at N3.39 kobo from N3.73 kobo per share.
  • LotusHal15 reported a decline of N10.01 from the previous share price of N130.11 kobo to end trading at N120.10 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 934.96 million shares valued at N24.31 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Lasaco recorded 90.19 million shares valued at N175.19 million.
  • UBA saw investors trade 88.99 million of its shares valued at N3.85 billion.
  • Wema Bank recorded 68.41 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N2.40 billion.
  • GTCO reported that traders exchanged 54.67 million shares valued at N7.38 billion.
