Fuel Tanker Explodes On Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A fuel tanker fell and caught fire early Saturday morning at the Ibafo/Aseese axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, causing significant traffic disruptions.

The incident occurred at around 7:00 a.m. Emergency responders, including the Fire Rescue Services and the Federal Road Safety Corps, swiftly arrived at the scene to contain the blaze. The fire was successfully extinguished around 8:30 a.m, according to the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency. Remarkably, no life was lost in the incident.

Traffic, which had been severely impacted, is gradually resuming normal flow, extending up to the Wawa/Arepo axis. Emergency operatives remain on the ground to assist in easing the congestion.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), confirmed the incident and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to restore traffic to its usual pace.
