Saturday’s matches in the Premier League began with Fulham’s 2-1 away win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Nigerian duo of Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi scored the two goals for the Cottagers while Harry Maguire’s strike – sandwiched in between the two goals ‘made in Nigeria’ – proved to be only a consolation.

That was Fulham’s first victory at Old Trafford since 2003 which has dented United’s hopes of a top-four finish.

Phil Foden was a star on the night as Manchester City fought hard to kick in their narrow 1-0.

Aston Villa pe their hold on fourth place with a 4-2 victory against a resilient Nottingham Forest to go five points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth.

Goals from Ollie Watkins and Douglas Luiz twice made it 3-0 inside 39 minutes. However, Moussa Niakhate reduced the deficit at half-time.

Arsenal’s Champions League aspirations may have taken a blow this week after losing 1-0 to Porto in the round of 16 but in the Premier League, they have remained dominant.

Mikel Arteta’s side defeated Newcastle United 4-1 at the Emirates to close down the gap between them and the top two sides in Liverpool and Manchester City.

The Gunners went ahead when Sven Botman inadvertently bundled the ball inside the Newcastle goal.

Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Jakub Kiwior grabbed the other three goals for the north London giants at the Emirates stadium.

Former Arsenal youngster, Joe Willock who came off the bench in the second half for the Toons scored a mere consolation deep in stoppage time.
