Emenike Okorie: A Thoroughbred Game-Changer

April 4, 2023

Barr. Emenike Okorie, a Jacksonite of 1983 set, fondly called Menyke, marks his birthday today April 4th. Without any inflation of words, Emenike is the epitome of a gentleman – suave, urbane and humane. He is imbued with a very fertile imagination which he deploys in crafting master pieces of verse and prose, whether news or feature.

Emenike wears a rich plume as a journalist, lawyer, author, public affairs expert and … more. In his primary constituency – journalism – Menyke stands tall as a National Award Winning Journalist for Investigative Reporting (NUJ Lagos).

He has proven to be a solid, prolific writer. After impactful stints at various Media organisations including New Breed Organisation, publishers of New Times and The President magazines, The African Guardian and Newswatch Magazines, Emenike joined Chevron Nigeria. Through exceptional dedication to duty, he rose through the ranks to become Manager, Government Relations, Chevron Nigeria, NMA SBU, Abuja.

Chevron Nigeria is a component of a worldwide octopus established in 1879 which has grown with strong roots in 28 countries across several continents to become one of the leading international oil companies (IOCs) in the world! The corporation with headquarters in San Ramon, California, USA, has clocked 144 years old but contrary to the law of aging is waxing from strength to strength! You know why? Because of an extra-ordinarily resourceful pool of staff like our celebrated Menyke! Staff who keep aflame the Corporation’s drive and commitment to its founding mission: “to provide the energy people need to fuel human progress.”

An intensely knowledgeable personality, a Wikipedia on two legs if you like, Menyke holds the following degrees, BA, Mass Communication, UNN; M.Sc Int’l Relations, UNIMAID; LL.B UNILAG; B.L, LL.M, UNILAG.

Great Jacksonites, let’s rise and toast to this young budding “eagle on the Iroko” on the occasion of his birthday; and consecrate him as one more of the esteemed class of outstanding ambassadors of the Jackson College, UNN.

To you, Beloved Menyke, we say, do have a fun-filled birthday. May God’s abundant graces for greater exploits continue to overshadow you. For you and all your own, “it is yet morning on creation day.”
