The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have deployed a combined total of over 3,400 personnel across Kwara State to ensure safety, security, and smooth traffic flow during the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebrations Prime Business Africa reports.
The Kwara State Command of the NSCDC confirmed the deployment of 2,480 operatives across the state’s 16 local government areas. The deployment, approved by State Commandant Abbas Ndah Mohammed, is aimed at maintaining peace and protecting lives and critical infrastructure during the festive period.

According to the Command, personnel were drawn from specialised units including the Armed Squad, Operation Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Anti-Vandal Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit. They have been stationed at strategic locations such as prayer grounds, recreational centres, public gathering points, and key infrastructure sites.
The NSCDC said the operation is intelligence-driven, with intensified patrols, surveillance activities, and rapid response measures across all divisions in the state. Area Commanders and Divisional Officers have also been directed to remain on high alert throughout the period.
The Command further reaffirmed its collaboration with other security agencies, vigilante groups, and community stakeholders, while urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security authorities.
In a separate operation, the FRSC Kwara State Sector Command deployed 950 officers, marshals, special marshals, and first responders across major highways and urban centres in the state to ensure safer road use during the Sallah period.
The deployment, ordered by Sector Commander Corps Commander Kabiru Kazeem, is part of a special patrol operation scheduled to run from May 25 to May 31, 2026.

The operation also includes 16 patrol vehicles, four ambulances, and a 70-tonne tow truck to support emergency response, traffic management, and quick clearance of road obstructions.
The FRSC said the exercise is designed to reduce road crashes, improve traffic flow, and enhance rescue operations during the festive period, adding that motor parks, highways, markets, and worship centres will be closely monitored alongside public enlightenment campaigns.
Motorists were warned against speeding, overloading, dangerous driving, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, and tyre-related offences, with the Corps stressing that enforcement would be strictly carried out throughout the operation.
