The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has raised concerns over the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Osaigbovo Iyoha, the Chief of Staff to Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, alleged that 90 per cent of the results from Etsako Central Local Government Area were inflated.

“The results are manufactured and inflated to favor a political party,” Iyoha said. He serves as the PDP’s state agent and strongly rejected the outcome announced by INEC. The All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner in the local government with 11,906 votes, defeating PDP, which scored 8,455 votes. Labour Party secured 381 votes, while NNPP and APGA got 10 and 20 votes respectively.

Iyoha questioned the credibility of the results, stating, “We reject the figures announced by INEC. We have relevant documents to present in court as evidence.” He emphasized that the PDP is prepared to take legal action to challenge the results from Etsako Central.

The INEC Returning Officer for Etsako Central had declared APC as the winner, a decision that has sparked tension among political stakeholders. Despite the announcement, the PDP maintains that the figures were manipulated and is calling for a review of the results. The party believes that justice will prevail in the court of law.

This latest development adds to the growing controversies surrounding the Edo election, where allegations of vote inflation and irregularities have surfaced. INEC is yet to respond to the claims made by the PDP regarding the Edo election results.
