D’Tigers Set To Know 2024 Olympics Foes In FIBA Draws

Nigeria’s men basketball national team known as D’Tigers will go into pot 4 in next Tuesday’s (March 19) draws for the Men’s basketball event of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The men and women’s draw will hold same time albeit the Nigerian women, D’Tigress failed to qualify for the Games.

The draws ceremony in Mies, Switzerland will be completed according to specific Draw Principles

Scheduled to take place at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball at 6pm Nigerian time and performed by legends of the game Penny Taylor and Carmelo Anthony, the Draws will be available live and in full on the FIBA YouTube channel.

Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024 Draw Principles

A total of 12 nations will compete at the Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024, which is scheduled to run from July 27 to August 10.

There are currently eight national teams from five different Continents that have already qualified as the host nation or based on their respective results at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.

The remaining four tickets on offer will be punched by th8e winners of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQT’s) which will be held between July 2 and 7 in Piraeus (Greece), Riga (Latvia), San Juan (Puerto Rico) and Valencia (Spain).

The basketball ruling body compiled a video that explains the complete Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024 Draw Principles.

The Men’s Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024 Draw Principles are based on the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by Nike, as well as other geographical principles. The distribution of the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments (OQT’s) winners will be based on the best-ranked team at each event.

According to an information made available by the FIBA media channel on Friday night, the teams will be divided into four pots based on the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by Nike.

In each of the final three group drawn, there will be a minimum of two and a maximum of three teams from Europe. For Africa, Americas, Asia and Oceania, there shall be no more than one team per continent in each group.

Pot 1 – USA, China and Australia
Pot 2 – Spain, Canada and Belgium
Pot 3 – France, Japan and Serbia
Pot 4 – Puerto Rico, Nigeria and Germany
