Social media sensation Carter Efe, renowned for his hilarious skits, ventured into the music industry with his chart-topping single ‘Machala’ featuring Berri Tigga.

However, the artist recently took to Instagram Live to express his disappointment after the song failed to secure a nomination for the prestigious 2023 Headies Awards.

During the live session, a visibly upset Carter Efe shared his heartbreak, claiming that ‘Machala’ deserved recognition and asserting that it surpassed all other releases in the year under review.

He emphasized that the song had gained immense popularity among children in both urban streets and rural villages, a feat unmatched by any other track. This snub, he believes, has opened his eyes to the underlying politics within the music industry.

It is worth noting that ‘Machala’ was released in 2022, serving as a tribute to Afrobeats megastar Wizkid. However, the song was mired in controversy, leading to its temporary removal from various streaming platforms for reasons that remain unknown.

Additionally, Carter Efe and Berri Tigga found themselves embroiled in a public dispute over the song’s split sheet, with Berri accusing Carter of failing to honor their agreed 70/30 split.

Carter Efe is known for using his Instagram Live platform to express his emotions, often blurring the lines between reality and his comedic persona.

As a result, it remains uncertain whether his frustration at the Headies nomination snub is genuine or simply another element of his entertaining act.
