Super Eagles midfield sentinel, Joe Aribo has once again turned down fresh offers from Glasgow Rangers in a desperate bid to force a move out of Ibrox for a new lease of life in the English Premier League in January, Daily Record can report.

The 25-year-old star played an active role in the club’s success stories in the 2019/2020 season as the Ibrox giants powered their way to Cup doubles at the expense of perennial rivals. He was instrumental to Steven Gerrard’s successful reign at the club before the Reds legend teamed up with Aston Villa last month.

Regarded as one of the shining lights at the club this season, Aribo’s sterling display coupled with his ability to combine hard work with versatility full of common sense has endeared him to the hearts of suitors from Aston Villa, Southampton and Brentford respectively.

The transfer bidding war is expected to take a new twist when the windows reopen in January and he will be closely monitored by the club’s chieftains when the African Cup of Nations gets underway in Cameroon next January.

The Saints are ahead of the pack in the transfer tussle despite rumors making the rounds in England that the Super Eagles midfield choreographer would fancy a reunion with his former manager, Steven Gerrard at The Villa Park.

Meanwhile, coach Austin Eguavoen would be banking on Aribo’s current form to help steady the ship in the middle of the pack after Super Eagles midfield fell into tactical morass under Gernot Rohr following Ogenerakaro Etebo long term injury.

It remains to be seen how coach Austin Eguavoen intends to guide against any transfer distraction for the former Charlton Athletic midfielder as Super Eagles seek its fourth AFCON diadem in Cameroon in the new year.
