Join our WhatsApp ChannelOn Monday the screening committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 Presidential election began its duty in Abuja with the quartet of David Umahi (Ebonyi state governor), Emeka Nwajiuba (former minister of state for Education), Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa state and Senator Ajayi Boriface appearing before the committee.
The Screening is headed by former Edo Governor, John Odigie Oyegun who is not particularly a political ally of Tinubu as the latter reportedly ensured that Oyegun was usurped as the party’s Chairman in 2020 by Adams Oshiomhole.
The exercise is expected to be concluded on Tuesday with more presidential candidates like Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and former Lagos Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu taking their turns later today (Monday 30th May) to face the panel.
The main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party has adopted Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President as the flagbearer of the party while the Labour Party has endorsed former Anambra state Governor, Peter Obi as their choice for the Presidential race.
