Prime Business Africa in partnership with the Credibility Group hosts a colloquium in honour of the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Prof Nnenna Oti, on April 10, 2023.

The event which holds at 5 pm WAT on Zoom, will also have as guest speakers, eminent Nigerians, including former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim; Nigeria’s veteran singer/songwriter and human rights activist, Onyeka Onwenu; ex-Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu; President of the Credibility Group, Chief Goddy Uwazurike; and former Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia, Amb Chigozie Obi.

Others are Nneka Chris-Asoluka, a lawyer and former President of Soroptimist International; Nze Charles Anyiam Osigwe, the Head of the Anyiam Osigwe International lectures; and Igwilo SAN, an Abuja lawyer.

The programme themed “Nwanyibuife – The Gender of Integrity” (a woman is light) is focused on a discourse x-raying the act of uncommon integrity displayed recently by Prof Oti while acting as the Chief Returning Officer of the Abia State 2023 governorship election.

In the election which led to the emergence of Dr Alex Otti of the Labour Party as the winner, Prof Oti, reportedly rebuffed all attempts to compromise, and subvert the will of the people. This reported act earned her wide range of commendations across the country.

Born in Afikpo North, Local Government Area, Ebonyi State in 1958, Prof Oti is a professor of soil science and Environmental Conservation. She is the first female substantive Vice Chancellor of FUTO. She has served in various capacities including being three-time Head of Department of Soil Science and technology in the School of Agricultural Technology, FUTO; consultant to various government agencies including TETFund and Anambra Imo River Basin Development Authority.

Narrating her experience in the Abia governorship during a recent grand welcome by FUTO students and staff, Prof Oti said she had never been involved in fraudulent acts and so resisted every attempt to subvert the will of the people stand.

Anyim  Pius Anyim

Anyim, who was first elected senator on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 1999 for the Ebonyi South senatorial district, served as president of the Senate from 2000 to 2003. He was Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) during Dr Goodluck Jonathan’s presidency (2011 – 2015).

Onyeka Onwenu

Onwenu, who hails from Arondizuogu in Imo State, is a singer/songwriter, actress, and human rights activist.

She is a former chairperson of the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture. In 2013 she was appointed the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Women Development.

Onwenu while playing her activist role, last produced a song with Panam Percy Paul to commemorate four years in captivity of Leah Sharibu, one of the school girls abducted in Dapchi, Yobe State, by Boko Haram terrorists.

Onyebuchi Chukwu

Prof Chukwu, who hails from Afikpo North in Ebonyi State, served as a Minister of Health Minister from 2010 to 2014. As Health Minister, he led the hugely successful fight against the Ebola virus disease outbreak in Nigeria in 2014.

He is a Professor of Medicine with postgraduate specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a fellow of both the Fellow of West African College of Surgeons and the International College of Surgeons.

 

Onyebuchi Chukwu

Chief  Goddy Uwazurike

Chief Uwazurike, a senior lawyer and President Emeritus of Aka Ikenga. He is currently the President of Cultural Credibility Development Initiative (CCDI), a socio-cultural/ political Civil society organization.

Ambassador Chigozie Obi

Ambassador Chigozie Obi has served as Nigerian Ambassador to Liberia.

Charles Anyiam-Osigwe

Nze Charles Anyiam Osigwe is the Head of the Co-ordinator General of the Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe Foundation. Anyiam Osigwe International lectures.

Charles Anyiam-Osigwe is a writer and publisher. He is the Publisher of Pride Magazine Nigeria, Co-Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Divine Mercy Reporter.

He is a graduate of Industrial Chemistry from the City University of London and also holds a post-graduate diploma in Film and Television Production.

Nneka Chris-Asoluka

Chris-Asoluka is a lawyer and President Emeritus of Soroptimist International.

 

Adiya Uri Ngozichukwuka

The Colloquium will be moderated by Adiya Uri Ngozichukwuka, a Communication Consultant, Author and Inclusion Advocate.
