In a move set to reshape the landscape of cross-border payments in Africa and beyond, Access Africa, a leading financial institution, has announced its strategic partnership with Thunes, a global payment infrastructure platform that connects more than 130 countries into a single seamless network.

“This strategic partnership reinforces Access Africa’s commitment to providing customers and non-customers with access to top-quality remittance services,” stated Robert Giles, Senior Advisory Retail at Access Africa.

Thunes, founded in 2016, is a cross-border payments network that enables corporations and financial institutions to move funds seamlessly in emerging markets. This collaboration will not only expand the reach of Access Africa’s payment and remittance services to over 100 additional countries but will also expose Thunes to the 60 million+ customers of Access Africa, who have access to over 600 branch locations.

Through this partnership, customers of Access Africa, both account holders and non-account holders, will gain the ability to make simple international payments and receive diaspora inflows in USD from countries spanning Africa, the Americas, APAC, Europe, Greater China, and MENA, in the form of cash or bank deposits.
