Burna Boy’s distinctive style and undeniable talent have earned him international acclaim, and this inclusion in Obama’s playlist further solidifies his status as a global music icon.

Joining Burna Boy on the list is another Nigerian sensation, Ayra Starr, whose 2023 release ‘Sability’ showcases her remarkable vocal prowess and artistic flair.

Ayra Starr’s emergence as a rising star in the music industry has not gone unnoticed, and being featured on Obama’s summer playlist is a testament to her incredible talent.

The presence of these Nigerian artists on Obama’s playlist underscores the growing influence of Afrobeats on the global music scene.

Known for its infectious rhythms and captivating melodies, Afrobeats has captivated listeners worldwide, transcending cultural boundaries and finding a place in the hearts of music enthusiasts from all corners of the globe.

Obama’s playlist isn’t just a celebration of Afrobeats, though. It brings together an impressive array of international superstars, such as Jorja Smith, SZA, J Hus, Drake, Nas, and Rosalia, alongside the Nigerian talents.

For Burna Boy, this isn’t the first time his music has caught the attention of the former US President. His track ‘Last Last’ was featured on Obama’s annual summer playlist in 2022, and Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’ also made an appearance on his 2022 end-of-the-year playlist.

In the past, other Nigerian artists like Wizkid, Rema, and Tems have had the honour of being featured on Obama’s playlists, further highlighting the incredible talent emanating from Nigeria’s vibrant music industry.
