Nigeria Premier League, NPL champions, Enyimba FC on Monday announced the immediate dissolution of the entire management, coaching and staff of the club and has directed those affected including coach Finidi George to re-apply.

Despite leading the team to its eighth league title in the 2022/2023 season, the Peoples Elephant has asked that George who was club and international teammates with new club Supervisor and General Manager, Nwankwo Kanu to express interest in his job once again.

Enyimba won the NPFL Super 6 Playoffs tournament in Lagos in June, the second title won by the Aba Millionaires under the reins of George who was a onetime Ajax and Real Betis winger.

The directive came through the two-time African Footballer of The Year winner in 1996 and 1999 through his Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme who was also a Nigerian international.

“For now, there are no issues in the club but I feel the development is not unconnected with the change of government in the state and also leadership of the club,” a source informed a popular Lagos-based media organization.

“Kanu just came in and he would need to get his own people on board in order to achieve his projections. What he did is not out of place but the issue is that all these are happening too soon especially after a wonderful season,” the source was quoted further as saying.

Kanu and Finidi were teammates at Ajax when the duo won the 1995 UEFA Champions League.
