2023 Headies Awards: Odumodublvck, Guchi, Others Nominated For ‘Rookie Of The Year’

The organizers of the renowned music award show, the Headies, have unveiled the nominees for the Rookie of the Year award in its upcoming 16th edition. The Rookie of the Year category specifically acknowledges artists and songs released between January 2022 and March 2023.

The nomination process for the 16th edition began on May 22 and concluded on Friday, June 16, 2023. Only musical acts and songs within the specified period were eligible for consideration.

The Rookie of the Year category represents a voting process, wherein musicians who have had a breakthrough year without releasing a full album in the year under review are recognized.

This category has previously seen winners such as Fave, Bad Boy Timz, Barry Jhay, Teni, Mayorkun, Ycee, and Reekado Banks.

The nomination list for the Rookie of the Year award features six talented individuals. Odumodublvck, known for his hit track “Declan Rice,” has secured a spot. Other nominees include Bayanni, Khaid, Guchi, Bloody Civilian, and Eltee Skillz.

The Headies Awards encompasses various categories, including Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Producer of the Year, and Next Rated, among others.
