Titanic Submersible : Senator Ned Nwoko Pays Tribute To Late Pilot, Hermish Harding

In a shocking turn of events, the ill-fated Titan submarine met a catastrophic end on July 18, 2023, during its voyage to explore the remnants of the legendary Titanic.

Among the five individuals on board was Senator Ned Nwoko’s close friend, Hermish Harding, a pilot from the United Kingdom, who had extended an invitation to the senator for this extraordinary adventure in the North Atlantic Ocean.

The ill-fated journey, for which each passenger had paid a hefty sum of $200,000, aimed to venture into the depths of the ocean and bear witness to the haunting wreckage of the Titanic.

Tragically, the submarine’s explosion occurred approximately one hour and forty-five minutes into the scheduled two-hour trip, resulting in the loss of all lives on board, including that of Harding.

Senator Ned Nwoko, renowned representative of Delta North Senatorial District and husband of actress Regina Daniels, expressed his grief and paid homage to his departed friend on his Instagram page.

Nwoko reflected on their shared experiences, recounting their daring expedition to Antarctica and their collaborative efforts in conducting research on malaria eradication in Africa.

He vividly recalled Harding’s unparalleled enthusiasm and unwavering support for their collective endeavours. Harding’s legacy extended far beyond his adventuring spirit.

As a Gulf Stream pilot, he had earned international acclaim by circumnavigating the globe and setting a Guinness World Record.

His notable achievements included descending into the Mariana Trench and extending an invitation to Nwoko for a space shuttle expedition. Regrettably, national responsibilities prevented the senator from joining his friend on these momentous escapades.

Ned Nwoko shared Harding’s final message, which expressed their readiness to explore the Titanic wreckage, conditional upon favourable weather conditions.

The late pilot’s passion for adventure and his relentless pursuit of challenges resonated deeply with all who knew him.

Nwoko’s heartfelt condolences extended to Harding’s wife, children, and their mutual friends, who had become an inseparable part of their extended family over the years.

Accompanying Harding on this ill-fated expedition were Stockton Rush, the founder and CEO of OceanGate Expeditions, who piloted the Titan submarine, along with Pakistani-born businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son, Suleman, both British citizens.

The group also included Paul-Henri Nargeolet, a revered French oceanographer and renowned expert on the Titanic, who had made numerous visits to the iconic wreckage.
