Dalai Lama Apologizes for Inappropriate Video with Child

The Dalai Lama has issued an apology for a video that recently went viral on social media. In the video, the Tibetan spiritual leader was seen kissing a young boy on his lips and then asking the child if he wanted to suck his tongue. The incident took place during an event held in northern India in February.

The video has caused widespread outrage, with many people expressing their disgust and disappointment in the Dalai Lama’s behavior. The 1989 Nobel Peace Prize winner’s office issued a statement, saying that he wanted to apologize to the child and his family for the hurt his words and actions may have caused.

According to the statement, the Dalai Lama often teases people in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras. However, he regrets this particular incident and the harm it has caused.

The Dalai Lama’s actions have been widely criticized, with many people calling them inappropriate and disturbing. The incident is a reminder that even respected figures can make mistakes and that we must all strive to treat others with respect and dignity.

The Statement read ” A video clip has been circulating that shows a recent meeting when a young boy asked His Holiness the Dalai Lama if he could give him a hug.

“His Holiness wishes to apologise to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused,” the statement read in part.

The release also stated that although Lama was in the habit of teasing people in “an innocent and playful way,” he “regrets the incident.”

In 2019, In 2019, the Dalai Lama’s office apologised after the spiritual leader told the BBC in an interview that any future female Dalai Lama should be “attractive”.
