The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) has assured the legal team of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, (LP), Mr Peter Obi that the electoral body will make available all the documents they requested to prepare their election petition.
The INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu disclosed this on Monday during his meeting with the Labour Party’s legal team at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelThe INEC boss stated that the Commission has nothing to hide and will make all the documents available to the LP’s legal team as soon as he concludes his meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners to discuss how to produce the documents at the state level.

“INEC has nothing to hide, documents available at the HQ will be given immediately. We are meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today (Monday) and we will discuss how other documents at the state level could also be made available to you speedily”, he said.
Prime Business Africa reports that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi had approached the court to challenge the processes of the presidential election held on 25th, February 2023 which produced Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
He also argued that the election was heavily manipulated and had a notable degree of violence, therefore has refused to accept defeat.
