Geregu, Veritas, Other Shareholders Pocket N44.03 billion As Bourse Rises By 0.15%

Nigerian bourse rose by 0.15 per cent on Tuesday, 31, January 2023, adding N44.03 billion to the stock market capitalisation. It lifted the equity valuation up from N28.95 trillion to N28.99 trillion.

This was reflected in the All-Share Index which closed at 53,238.67 ASI, rising by 80.84 basis points from 53,157.83 ASI.

Also, during trading on Tuesday, investors exchanged N5.88 billion for 250.19 million shares in 4,328 deals. 

However, records from the previous trading day showed that 201.35 million shares, worth N5.66 billion, were traded in 4,332 deals on Monday. 

Top five gainers

  • Living Trust share appreciated by N0.18kobo to rise from N1.80kobo to N1.98kobo per share 
  • Veritas Kapital grew by 10 per cent, up from N0.20kobo to N0.22kobo per share 
  • Geregu ended trading with N193.60kobo from N176 per share, rising by N17.60kobo. 
  • John Holt gained N0.12kobo to end trading at N1.33kobo, having opened with N1.21kobo per share. 
  • SCOA stock was up by 9.78 per cent, closing with N1.01 from N0.92kobo per share 

Top five losers 

  • Chams depreciated by 10 per cent, dwindling from N0.30kobo to N0.27kobo per share. 
  • NCR also fell by N0.36kobo to end trading at N3.24kobo, after opening with N3.60kobo per share. 
  • Unity Bank followed the same path, losing 9.09 per cent after trading hours, to sell at N0.50kobo from N0.55kobo per share. 
  • Royal Exchange reported a decline of 8.97 per cent from the previous day’s share price of N0.78kobo to end trading at N0.71kobo per share. 
  • Japaul Gold share depreciated to N0.33kobo from N0.36kobo, after losing 8.33 per cent during trading hours.  

Top five trading equities in the stock exchange 

  • Universal Insurance reported 48.55 million shares valued at N9.71 million were traded on its floor  
  • GTCO recorded 14.15 million shares valued at N353.77 million
  • Zenith Bank saw investors trade 12.51 million of its shares valued at N315.02 million
  • Access Corp recorded 11.56 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N104.88 million
  • Unity Bank reported 10.87 million shares valued at N5.47 million exchanged investors’ hands
