Apple Vs Samsung: Who Leads The Mobile Phone Industry?

As technology and the need for communication strengthen globally, so does the number of smartphone users around the globe. The demand for smartphones has toppled over the years and as a result, we see mobile commerce sales reaching an all-time high. Apple vs Samsung!

According to the latest statistics on the worldwide smartphone market share, the US brand Apple has taken over the market with a market share of 28.43%. which implies that 3 out of every smartphone user worldwide uses an Apple phone.

Second on the list is the popular South Korean brand, Samsung with a smartphone market share of 28.19%, just a marginal 0.24% less than Apple.

Apple and Samsung dominate the smartphone market with a combined share of 56.62%. These two smartphones took over the mobile phone industry in 2013 after their market shares surpassed Nokia’s.

According to statistics, Apple and Samsung have been each other’s biggest competition with Samsung surpassing Apple as the market leader only by a margin. but in October 2022, Apple took over the market share as the top smartphone maker worldwide.

Chinese Xiaomi comes in third position controlling 12.73% of the total market share. Xiaomi’s growth is quite impressive considering it was founded in 2010. The company was able to grow its market share from 2% to 4.75% in 2017 and eventually came next to Samsung with a 12.73% market share.

Oppo and Huawei follow closely behind Xiaomi with 5.51% and 5.29% of the market share. Vivo comes in as the sixth owning 4.29% of the smartphone market share.

All six brands own 84.44% of the global smartphone market share, meaning they control the market. four out of every five smartphones being used worldwide are manufactured by these brands.
