I Met UK Officials For Talks On Economy, Security, Others - Atiku

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Tuesday, met with members of the United Kingdom Parliament to discuss his proposed solutions to issues bordering on security, and economy, among others in Nigeria, if elected president on February 25.

The former vice president revealed this in a tweet on Wednesday evening via his verified handle.

He wrote: “I just concluded successful meetings with The Right Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP—Minister for Development and Africa in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), amongst other key senior UK government officials.”

“It was an auspicious occasion to share my vision for Nigeria encapsulated in the Unity SEED with them. It is a vision United by Security, Economy, Education and Devolution (of Powers).

“I solicited their partnership and I am encouraged by the UK government’s strong interest in helping Nigeria RECOVER every facet of its life.”

Also, the Director of Strategic Communications of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council ( PCC), Chief Dele Momodu, in a statement, said the UK government invited Atiku for a discussion on future potential collaboration between the two countries.

He added that the UK is also seeking to improve its trade relationship with Nigeria.
Momodu claimed that an internal poll by the British government shows Atiku as the leading candidate in the upcoming election, hence, their quest for discussion on possible future collaboration.

“Five weeks to election and the UK government invites the front leading candidate to discuss areas of future potential collaboration between both countries.

“An internal poll by the British government shows Atiku Abubakar as the leading candidate and the possibility of working together for a more effective post-BREXIT world which promises to be a win-win for both countries.
“This is especially imperative as the UK seeks to improve and increase trade partnership with Nigeria,” Momodu stated.

Commenting on the visit, the  Spokesperson, PDP PCC, Senator Dino Melaye, in an interview with Channels Television, said they had a very robust discussion on security, the economy and immigration issues.

“We also had a lot of talk on immigration issues. It was a very great meeting. It was a very interesting, intriguing discussion with the British government today,” Melaye stated.
