Newcastle Hold Arsenal In Draw, Gunners Still Ahead Champions Man City

Arsenal’s perfect home record this season came to an end on Tuesday evening, in a scoreless draw against Newcastle United at the Emirates stadium.

Despite the setback, the Gunners still maintained their leadership at the top of the table with 44 points, eight points ahead of Manchester City who faces Chelsea on Thursday.

Young Arsenal’s rising star, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji was an unused substitute in the game that produced nine yellow cards. It was the first senior call-up.

Hale End Academy product, Butler-Oyedeji, was part of the Gunners squad that headed to Dubai on a warm weather training session during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Gunners had a couple of penalty calls overlooked by the referee and the VAR team.

First, Gabriel was dragged down inside the box while the ball hit two Newcastle United players which the VAR team chose to ignore.

The draw at Emirates Stadium allowed both teams to extend their unbeaten runs in the top-flight. Newcastle’s streak rose to 13; Arsenal’s to 11.

Second-place and current champions, Manchester City face Chelsea on Thursday.
