Nigerian Duo Atiemwen, Akanbi In Action In Defeat Against Man United

Nigeria duo of Rasheed Akanbi and Iyayi Atiemwen were in action for Israeli side Sheriff Tiraspol as they lost 2-0 to Manchester United on Matchday 2 of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night but could not conjure any moments of magic to lift their team.

Tiraspol had not lost in eight matches in all competitions before the United game.

United scored their goals through Jadon Sancho in the 17th and Cristiano Ronaldo 39th minutes respectively.

Akanbi went close to scoring early in the second half but saw his shot at the edge of the box cleared by Lisandro Martinez.

Akanbi went close to scoring a glorious goal as he attempted a lob in the 59th minute but saw his efforts end up as a corner.

Atiemwen was yellow-carded in the match in the 63rd minute. He played for 90 minutes while Felipe Vizue replaced Akanbi in the 70th minute.
