Terrorists Free 7 More Abuja-Kaduna Train Kidnap Victims

Seven of the abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna train that was attacked on march 28, 2022 have been released by the terrorists.

A member of the negotiating team, Tukur Mamu who gave the information on Wednesday, said six of the released hostages are members of the same family, which include a couple and their four children. However, the police authorities are yet to confirm the development.

It is not clear if any ransom was paid to the terrorists for their release.

Among the victims released by the terrorists is also a 60-year-old woman, Hajia Aisha Hassan who was said to have been freed due to life-threatening health challenges.

The names of the six family members that were released are Abubakar Idris Garba who is the father of the four kids, his wife Maryama Abubakar Bobbo and their eldest son, Ibrahim Abubakar Garba who is 10 years old.

Others include Fatima Abubakar Garba, 7 years, Imran Abubakar Garba, 5 years old and youngest Zainab Abubakar Garba who is only one and half years.

The latest release is coming about a week after five other victims kidnapped in the Kaduna-bound train were freed by the terrorists. One of them, Professor Mustapha Umar Imam, who is a medical doctor at Usman Dan Fodio University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, had after describing their horrible ordeal while in the custody of the terrorists, pleaded with the Nigerian government to step up efforts in securing the release of the remaining victims.

So far, 42 victims have regained their freedom. The number of those still in captivity now stands at 35.
