The French midfielder of Malian descent is a key man in Thomas Tuchel’s squad but he has just 12 months remaining on his current Blues deal.

Kante is one of the club’s top earners and suffered a series of injury setbacks last season.

Kante, 31, is a hugely experienced campaigner with over 400 professional appearances to his name. He won Premier League titles with Chelsea in 2017 and Leicester in 2016.

Manchester United have also been actively eyeing the veteran midfielder according to the Daily Star but Erik ten Hag’s top priority remains Barcelona ace Frenkie de Jong.
