APC Congratulates Oyebanji, Mocks PDP For Coming Distant Third

June 19, 2022

As supporters bask in the euphoria of the victory of Abiodun Oyebanji at the Ekiti State Governorship Election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated him and also expressed gratitude to entire people of the state for voting the party during the poll.

In statement on Sunday signed by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, it said the victory is a clear testimony of the acceptance of the party in the state.

The party also expressed gratitude to the incumbent governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for his role in the state, noting that his “towering accomplishment” provided “a solid predicate for this decisive victory.”

Oyebanji, a former Secretary to Ekiti State government who contested under the platform of the APC, was declared winner of the election after scoring 187,057 votes to defeat his closest rival, Mr Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who scored 82,211 votes.
Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 67,457 votes, coming third in the election that was held on Saturday.

The ruling party taunted PDP for scoring votes that landed it in third position, despite claiming to be on a rescue mission and would win the election.

“Unsurprisingly, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) finished a distant third position in the just-concluded election. Despite its claim to a self-serving and self-assigned rescue mission of Nigeria, the people of Ekiti State and, by extension, Nigerians are not, in any way, deceived by the ceaseless propaganda of a desperate party that only seeks a return to power to continue its ruinous escapades,” the statement indicated.

The party also conveyed its gratitude to the “Governor Atiku Bagudu-led Campaign Council for discharging their assignment with extraordinary commitment and efficiency.

“We salute our dogged Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, our APC Governors, National Secretary, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, among other party leaders, for their highly valued contribution to this success.”

The statement also urged the people of Ekiti State to continue supporting APC and its candidates for various positions in the 2023 general election.

“As we inch towards the 2023 general elections, we urge the people of Ekiti State and Nigerians, in general, to sustain their support for our party by voting overwhelmingly for all APC candidates as the party remains unwavering in its commitment to improving the quality of governance and standard of living of all Nigerians,” Morka stated.
