Wike ‘Poised’ To Become Atiku’s Running Mate For 2023 Presidential Election

June 14, 2022

Unconfirmed reports on Tuesday evening claim that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has been selected as the running mate for Peoples Democratic Party Presidential aspirant Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 general elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party chieftains had a closed door meeting on Tuesday with the identity of the running mate for Atiku on the agenda and Wike who was reportedly tipped as a strong contender in the party’s primaries was favoured ahead of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

However Wike’s selection was not published as at the time of filing this report on the PDP’s official website, Peoplesdemocraticparty.com.ng.

The Presidential ticket for the PDP was expected to have gone to the South East zone but Peter Obi defected to the Labour Party after what he described as situations that go against his political beliefs in the PDP.
