FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria’s Flamingoes Pip Ethiopia

Nigeria’s U-17 female team, the Flamingoes defeated their Ethiopian U-17 side 1-0 in the first leg of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualification final round away in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Friday afternoon.

Opeyemi Ajakaye scored the only goal of the game, as the Flamingos are now in the pole position to qualify for the U-17 World Cup.

The Nigerian girls have now scored 15 goals without conceding any so far in the qualification series.

The team previously recorded 8-0 and 6-0 aggregate wins over DR Congo and Egypt respectively in the qualifiers.

The return leg of the qualifier against Ethiopia will hold at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Saturday, 4th of June.

The winner over the two legs will represent Africa at this year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup holding in India from 11th – 30th of October.
