Super Falcons Drawn Against Perennial Rivals South Africa, Burundi, Botswana For AWCON

African champions Nigeria have been drawn in Group C of the 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco along with South African, Burundi and Botswana reports Prime Business Africa.

The draw ceremony which began at 9. 30pm Nigerian time on Friday was conducted by Confederation of African Football Director of Communications Samson Adamu in presence of delegates from the participating teams, media and CAF executive committee members.

South Africa lost to Nigeria via penalties in the final of the last AWCON in 2019.

Hosts Morocco was drawn in Group A with Burkina Faso, Senegal and Uganda while the seeded team in Group B, Cameroon will face Zambia, Tunisia and Togo.

The Africa Women’s Cup of Nations will serve as qualifiers to the FIFA World Cup in New Zealand and Australia in 2023 with the four semifinalists at the tournament representing Africa

The 2022 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations holds between July 2 and 23.
