“For me what matters is that Africa gets good representation at the World Cup in Qatar. But Nigeria, have very good players.
“Back in the days because I am old school, I watched a lot of games involving Austin Jay Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo and Rashidi Yekini. I hope this generation can emulate the feats of those great players.
“My PA is a Ghanaian but go, Nigeria go,” Evra said effusively.
Evra met with a cross section of youths at Oshodi, Lagos on Monday and revealed during the interview that he is keen to establish a Foundation that caters for the welfare of the African child.
Former Nigeria international Chidi Odiah also expressed hopes to see the team qualify for the World Cup.
Odiah was part of the Nigerian squad to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and took to his Facebook page on Tuesday morning to show his solidarity to the current Super Eagles side.
“There is nothing wrong with the first result in Accra (0-0 draw). The Ghanaians had to do everything not to lose at home,” Odiah said in defense of Austin Eguavoen’s men.
“Today we are playing at home. You have all the support from us. You have a very good team.
Odiah went on to offer tactical insights on how the Eagles can overcome the Ghanaians.
“Be focused on the objective and give your all. Take control of the game from the very start and maximise all your opportunities and win.
“Victory is all we want. It is non negotiable. We have to be in Qatar. I wish you guys all the best🙌🏽.”
Today’s match kicks off at 6pm Nigerian time with a win the only option for the Nigerians to knick a World Cup place. A score draw will be enough for Ghana.
