Nigeria’s Super Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala has renewed her contract with Spanish Iberdrola side FC Barcelona until June 30, 2024.

The 27-year-old African Women’s Footballer of The year who has also played for the women’s team of Liverpool and Arsenal in England arrived at Barça permanently on January 31, 2019, after having a successful loan spell with the club.

Her current contract is set to end at the end of the season and will now run for two more years.

Oshoala put pen to paper on the new deal in the presence of president Joan Laporta and of the director Xavier Puig, in the office of the presidency of Camp Nou.

Speaking to Barca TV on her new contract, Oshoala lwas expectedly elated and pledged to give her best in the years ahead.

”I’m just happy to be in the best team in the world. It’s not just about their football, you look off the pitch, and it’s about how they treat footballers to keep improving.”

“I am a striker and I want to keep scoring more goals. I love it. The goal is to keep growing and to be happy,” Superzee as she is affectionately called concluded.

Since joining the club the former Rivers Angels striker has scored 80 goals in 101 appearances making her the sixth-highest scorer in the history of the team.

Barring any unforseen issues, Oshoala is expected to skipper Nigeria’s Super Falcons to the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco in July which serves as qualifiers to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
