The Benue State Police Command has arrested seven additional suspects, including an 80-year-old man, in connection with the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and Yakubu Isa.
The victims were killed on July 1 while returning from a security meeting convened by the Divisional Police Officer in Ohimini Local Government Area.

According to the police, the latest arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering, detailed investigations, and coordinated tactical operations aimed at identifying and apprehending those responsible for the killings.
The newly arrested suspects were identified as Chief Morgan Ejaga, 43; Chief Moses Anteyi, 45; Chief John Ogli, 58; Chief Yawuhu Adaji, 49; Sylvester Ajonye, 80; Aba Alexander Uloko, 59; and Fidelis Iduma, 45.
The latest arrests come after the earlier apprehension of 10 suspects in connection with the case, bringing the total number of suspects in police custody to 17.
Benue State Commissioner of Police, Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the officers involved in the investigation for their professionalism and diligence, describing their efforts as instrumental in advancing the case.
He assured residents that the investigation remains ongoing and reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring that all those found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law.

The commissioner also appealed to members of the public to remain calm and continue providing credible information that could assist security agencies in concluding the investigation.
The killing of the MACBAN chairman and his associate has heightened concerns over security in parts of Benue State, where recurring farmer-herder clashes and communal violence continue to fuel tensions.
Police authorities maintain that the ongoing investigation is focused on ensuring accountability and preventing further escalation of violence in the affected communities.
