Obidients Kick Against Abure’s Creation Of Directorate In Labour Party

The Obidient Movement Worldwide has called on members and aspirants of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain united and focused as the party conducts its primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections, Prime Business Africa reports.

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by its National Coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the movement urged party faithful to demonstrate discipline, maturity, sacrifice and sportsmanship throughout the exercise, stressing that the party’s broader objective must take precedence over individual ambitions.

The group said its alignment with the NDC was “deliberate and strategic,” noting that the primary goal remained ensuring that former Anambra State governor, , secures a place on the ballot for the 2027 presidential election.

According to the statement, members must not allow personal political interests to undermine what it described as a collective mission to “rescue Nigeria through people-oriented leadership built on character, competence, capacity, commitment and compassion.”

The movement acknowledged that not all aspirants would emerge victorious in the primaries and warned against actions capable of triggering internal divisions after the exercise.

“In every democratic process, winners and losers will emerge,” the statement said, while urging contestants and supporters to accept outcomes in good faith and maintain party unity.

The Obidient Movement further advised aggrieved aspirants to channel complaints arising from the primaries through the party’s internal mechanisms instead of resorting to litigation.

It warned that political opponents were monitoring developments within the party and could exploit any internal crisis to weaken the movement ahead of the next general election.

The group also called on members to quickly close ranks after the primaries and work collectively toward securing victory in the 2027 presidential election.

Reaffirming its optimism, the movement concluded the statement with its popular slogan: “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
