Investors Reduce NGX Trade To N23bn Shares, Market Cap Declines By N534bn

NGX Market Cap Down By N606bn, Traders Seal N50bn Deals
The market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market, decreased to N160.44 trillion on Tuesday.

According to the NGX, the market capitalisation declined by N534.71 billion from the N160.98 trillion recorded on Monday.

The NGX said the all-share index (ASI) also depreciated by 834.13 basis points, from 251,125.02 ASI to 250,290.89 ASI.

During trading, investors exchanged 493.17 million shares in 61,446 deals, valued at N23.61 billion, compared to the previous day’s N40.91 billion traded for 629.42 million shares in 82,434 deals on Monday.

Top Five Gainers

  • McNichols’ share price increased by N0.72 kobo, from N7.20 kobo to N7.92 kobo per share.
  • Austin Laz’s share value grew by N0.40 kobo, from N4 to N4.40 kobo per share.
  • Learn Africa’s share appreciated by N1.10 kobo, to end trading at N12.75 kobo, having opened with N11.65 kobo.
  • HMCall’s share ended trading at N3.89 kobo per share, from N3.60 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.29 kobo.
  • International Energy Insurance’s share value was up by N0.26 kobo, after closing at N4, from N3.74 kobo per share.

Top Five Losers

  • Dangote Sugar’s share price depreciated by N8.70 kobo, dwindling from N87 to N78.30 kobo per share.
  • TIP recorded a N3 decline in its share price to end trading at N27.45 kobo, after opening with N30.45 kobo per share.
  • Abbey Mortgage Bank recorded a N0.65 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N6.20 kobo, after opening with N6.85 kobo per share.
  • Mutual Benefit lost N0.40 kobo in its share price, to sell at N4.35 kobo, down from N4.75 kobo per share.
  • Wapic reported a decline of N0.22 kobo, from the previous share price of N2.69 kobo, to end trading at N2.47 kobo per share.

Top Five Trading Equities

  • Access Holdings reported that 76.09 million shares valued at N1.87 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Zenith Bank recorded 29.59 million shares valued at N3.9 billion.
  • Mutual Benefit saw investors trade 26.04 million of its shares valued at N113.94 million.
  • Neimeth recorded 21.41 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N223.88 million.
  • Lasaco reported that traders exchanged 20.29 million shares valued at N41.64 million.
