Popular Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has been reported dead at the age of 40.
According to a Nollywood source who spoke on condition of anonymity, the actor was rushed to hospital on Monday after battling kidney cancer. The source further stated that Ekubo died on Tuesday afternoon after spending hours on life support.
The source also claimed that the actor had been dealing with serious health challenges, which became more pronounced in 2025 following a prolonged absence from social media.

Following the news, tributes attributed to some colleagues in the Nigerian film industry began circulating online. Actress Funke Akindele was quoted as expressing grief over the development, while actor Bolanle Ninalowo also mourned the actor, describing him as a friend.
Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was also quoted as saying he was deeply affected by the news, describing Ekubo as a “rare soul” and referencing alleged personal preparations made by the actor prior to his passing.
Veteran actress Kate Henshaw also reacted on social media, posting: “I just heard a terrible news!! Father Lord please.”
