Valuation Of Nigerian Stock Market Drops By Over N514bn

On Thursday, February 26, over N514.99 billion was wiped off the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), also known as the stock market.

The market capitalisation fell to N124.23 trillion, from the N124.75 trillion recorded on Wednesday, February 25.

This followed an 802.39 basis points decline in the all-share index (ASI), which shrank from 194,370.2 ASI to 193,567.81 ASI.

Over 868.53 million shares, valued at N31.48 billion, were traded in 69,310 deals, down from the 1.35 billion shares, worth N45.35 billion, that were exchanged in 69,642 deals, the day before.

Top five gainers

  • FGSUK2032S7’s share price increased by N34 to rise from N100 to N134 per share.
  • FTN Cocoa’s share value grew by N0.55 kobo, from N5.50 kobo to N6.05 per share.
  • RT Briscoe ended trading at N11.38 kobo per share, from N10.35 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N1.03.
  • Deap Capital’s share appreciated by N0.63 kobo to end trading at N6.98 kobo, having opened with N6.35 kobo.
  • Japaul Gold’s share value was up by N0.34 kobo, after closing at N3.77 kobo from N3.43 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Jaiz Bank’s share price depreciated by N1.40 kobo, dwindling from N14.03 to N12.63 kobo per share.
  • Ikeja Hotel recorded a N4.15 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N37.75 kobo after opening with N41.90 kobo per share.
  • John Holt lost N0.95 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N8.65 kobo from N9.60 per share.
  • Enamelwa recorded a N4 decline in its share price to end trading at N36.50 kobo after opening with N40.50 kobo per share.
  • LotusHal15 reported a decline of N17.43 kobo from the previous share price of N178.65 kobo to end trading at N161.22 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Jaiz Bank reported that 193.69 million shares valued at N1.16 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Japaul Gold recorded 73.25 million shares valued at N274.78 million.
  • Access Holdings saw investors trade 66.91 million of its shares valued at N1.74 billion.
  • Chams recorded 56.89 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N239.56 million.
  • Zenith Bank reported that traders exchanged 45.49 million shares valued at N4.05 billion.
