Former President Olusegun Obasanjo will mark his 89th birthday with a large-scale medical outreach programme designed to provide free healthcare services to at least 10,000 residents of Lagos State, Prime Business Africa reports.
The week-long outreach, coordinated by the Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation (OOF), will take place from February 27 to March 4, 2026, across selected communities in Ikorodu and Alimosho local government areas.
According to the Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Olalekan Makinde, the Lagos Medical Mission is designed to bridge healthcare gaps in underserved communities and extend critical services to vulnerable populations.

The outreach will then move to Alade Stadium along Command Road in the Agbado/Oke-Odo area of Alimosho, where medical services will continue from March 2 through March 4.
Organisers say the intervention will cover a broad spectrum of medical needs. Beneficiaries will have access to free ear examinations and hearing aids for eligible patients, comprehensive eye screenings with prescription glasses and referrals for surgical procedures where necessary, as well as cardiovascular assessments including blood pressure and heart health checks.
In addition, general medical consultations, diagnosis and treatment of common ailments, distribution of essential medications at no cost, and preventive health counselling will form part of the services offered during the mission.
Makinde explained that the programme prioritises elderly residents, children and families, individuals living with untreated hearing or vision impairments, persons with cardiovascular conditions, and other at-risk groups who may not have consistent access to healthcare.

He urged intending beneficiaries to arrive early at the designated venues, noting that attendance will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
