Admiration For Netanyahu

Foreign ministers from eight countries have strongly condemned Israel’s decision to designate lands in the occupied West Bank as “state land” and to begin procedures for the registration and settlement of land ownership across large areas of the territory for the first time since 1979, Prime Business Africa reports.

In a joint statement, the top diplomats of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Republic of Indonesia, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Türkiye, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, State of Qatar and Arab Republic of Egypt described the move as an “illegal step” and a “grave escalation.”

The ministers said the measure is aimed at accelerating settlement expansion, confiscating land, entrenching Israeli control, and applying what they termed unlawful sovereignty over the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

According to the statement, the decision constitutes a “flagrant violation” of international law and international humanitarian law, particularly the Fourth Geneva Convention. The ministers also cited United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which calls on Israel to cease settlement activities in Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.

They further referenced an advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice, which underscored the illegality of measures intended to alter the legal, historical, and demographic status of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The opinion also reaffirmed the obligation to end the occupation and the prohibition against acquiring territory by force.

The ministers warned that the latest step reflects an attempt to impose a new legal and administrative reality on the ground, potentially undermining the two-state solution and eroding prospects for the establishment of an independent and viable Palestinian state.

Reiterating their rejection of all unilateral measures aimed at altering the status of the Occupied Palestinian Territory, the ministers cautioned that such actions could further escalate tensions and instability in the region.

They called on the international community to take “clear and decisive steps” to halt the measures, ensure compliance with international law, and safeguard the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign state along the pre-4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
