Bulls Charge Ahead As NGX Shatters Records As Market Cap Surpasses N50trn

The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) Limited, also known as the stock market, closed with an equity capitalisation of N91.28 trillion on Friday, November 28.

According to data from the bourse, the market capitalisation increased by N178.91 billion from the N91.10 trillion reported on Thursday, November 27.

Also, the all-share index (ASI) appreciated from 143,239.23 ASI to 143,520.53 ASI, representing a gain of 281.3 basis points.

Over 1,82 billion shares were exchanged in 20,645 deals, valued at N20,03 billion, against the 324.55 million shares, worth N13.05 billion, traded in 18,328 deals on Thursday.

Top five gainers

  • Ikeja Hotel’s share price increased by N2.75 kobo to rise from N27.50 kobo to N30.25 kobo per share.
  • NGX Group’s share value grew by N5.10 kobo, from N51.10 kobo to N56.20 kobo per share.
  • Academy ended trading at N7.35 kobo per share, from N6.70 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.65 kobo.
  • Omatek gained N0.10 kobo to end trading at N1.17 kobo, having opened with N1.07.
  • Cadbury’s share value was up by N4.60 kobo, after closing at N57.90 kobo from N53.30 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Abbey Mortgage Bank’s share price depreciated by N0.65 kobo, dwindling from N6.50 kobo to N5.85 kobo per share.
  • Meyer recorded a N1.45 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N13.10 kobo after opening with N14.55 kobo per share.
  • Sunu Assurance lost N0.43 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N2.70 kobo from N2.97 kobo per share.
  • Sovereign Insurance recorded a N0.27 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N2.70 kobo after opening with N2.97 kobo per share.
  • Linkage Assurance reported a decline of N0.15 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N1.87 kobo to end trading at N1.72 kobo per share.

  • Cornerstone Insurance reported that 1.26 million shares valued at N6.40 billion were traded on its floor.
  • Access Corporation recorded 103.28 million shares valued at N2.16 billion.
  • Ellah Lakes saw investors trade 82.70 million of its shares valued at N1.09 billion.
  • Consolidated Hallmark Insurance recorded 59.13 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N232.53 million.
  • UBA reported 26.43 million shares valued at N956.09 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
