Over N662.50 billion was lost in the Nigerian stock market on Wednesday, August 20, after the market capitalisation of the bourse dropped to N89.56 trillion, from the previous day’s N90.22 trillion.
The decline followed a 1,047.17 basis points loss by the all-share index (ASI), which depreciated from 142,613.47 ASI to 141,566.3 ASI.

Top five gainers
- Austin Laz’s share price increased by N0.24 kobo, to rise from N2.40 kobo to N2.64 kobo per share.
- Champion Brew’s share value grew by N1.79 kobo, from N17.95 kobo to N19.74 kobo per share.
- NCR ended trading at N9.55 kobo per share, from N8.70 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.85 kobo.
- Multiverse gained N0.90 kobo to end trading at N11.10 kobo, having opened with N10.20 kobo.
- Enamelwa’s share value was up by N3.10 kobo, after closing at N39 from N35.90 kobo per share.

- Guinness’ share price depreciated by N15.55 kobo, dwindling from N155.75 kobo to N140.20 kobo per share.
- Conoil recorded a N23.40 decline in its share price to end trading at N211.10 after opening with N234.50 kobo per share.
- Consolidated Hallmark lost N0.48 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N4.35 kobo from N4.83 kobo per share.
- Royal Exchange reported a decline of N0.25 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2.52 kobo to end trading at N2.27 kobo per share.
- Ellah Lakes recorded a N1.62 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N14.90 kobo after opening with N16.52 kobo per share.
