AIICO Leads Gainers, Stanbic IBTC Tops Stock Market Losers’ List

On Monday, August 18, the Nigerian Exchange Limited’s (NGX) market capitalisation rose marginally to N91.56 trillion, from N91.50 trillion recorded on Friday, August 15.

This represents an increase of N59,63 billion, which was driven by the 453.34 basis points recorded by the all-share index (ASI).

The all-share index had appreciated from 144,628.2 ASI to 144,722.47 ASI.

At the end of trading, equity traders exchanged 1.14 billion shares, worth N16.17 billion, in 38,160 deals, against the 1.37 billion shares, valued at N13.92 billion, traded in 32,065 deals on Monday.

Top five gainers

  • AIICO’s share price increased by N0.38 kobo, to rise from N3.80 kobo to N4.18 kobo per share.
  • UPDC’s share value grew by N0.65 kobo, from N6.50 kobo to N7.15 kobo per share.
  • Lotus Hal ended trading at N105.05 per share, from N95.50 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N9.55 kobo.
  • Cornerstone gained N0.69 kobo to end trading at N7.60 kobo, having opened with N6.91 kobo.
  • Deap Capital’s share value was up by N0.16 kobo, after closing at N1.77 kobo from N1.61 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Stanbic IBTC share price depreciated by N11.10 kobo, dwindling from N111.10 kobo to N100 per share.
  • PZ Cussons recorded a N3 decline in its share price to end trading at N35 after opening with N38 per share.
  • NEM Insurance lost N2.55 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N29.95 kobo from N32.50 kobo per share.
  • Chams reported a decline of N0.15 kobo from the previous day’s share price of N2.85 kobo to end trading at N2.70 kobo per share.
  • TIP recorded a N0.70 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N13 after opening with N13.70 kobo per share.

Top five trading equities

  • Universal Insurance reported that 202.24 million shares valued at N265.82 million were traded on its floor.
  • Champion Brew recorded 103.23 million shares valued at N1.15 billion.
  • Linkage Assurance saw investors trade 77.89 million of its shares valued at N206.54 million.
  • Lasaco recorded 66.41 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N263.82 million.
  • Mutual Benefits reported that 57.81 million shares valued at N244.48 million were exchanged by investors.
