Gains Recorded By First HoldCo, BUA Cement, Others Add N833bn To NGX

Over N833 billion was added to the equity capitalisation of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Thursday, July 17, as the all-share index (ASI) expanded by 1,316.78 basis points.

The addition raised the Nigerian stock market capitalisation to N82.41 trillion from N81.58 trillion on Wednesday, July 16, while the ASI expanded from 128,967.08 ASI to 130,283.86 ASI.

About 1.19 billion shares were exchanged by investors on Thursday, in 37,418 deals, valued at N42.75 billion, compared to the previous day’s 11,67 billion shares, worth N363,41 billion, traded in 36,635 deals.

Top five gainers

  • BUA Cement share price increased by N10.20 kobo, to rise from N102 to N112.20 kobo per share.
  • Dangote Cement’s share value grew by N43, from N430.30 kobo to N473.30 kobo per share.
  • Chams ended trading at N3.09 per share, from N2.81 kobo per share – indicating an increase of N0.28 kobo.
  • First HoldCo gained N3.20 kobo to end trading at N35.40 kobo, having opened with N32.20 kobo.
  • ABC Transport’s share value was up by N0.51 kobo, after closing at N5.69 kobo from N5.18 kobo per share.

Top five losers

  • Berger’s share price depreciated by N3.75 kobo, dwindling from N37.50 kobo to N33.75 per share.
  • HM Call recorded a N0.52 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N4.68 kobo after opening with N5.20 kobo per share.
  • May and Baker lost N1.70 kobo in its share price after trading hours, to sell at N15.30 kobo from N17 per share.
  • John Holt reported a decline of N1 from the previous day’s share price of N10 to end trading at N9 per share.
  • RT Briscoe recorded a N0.38 kobo decline in its share price to end trading at N3.42 kobo after opening with N3.80 kobo per share.

  • Access Holdings reported that 168.09 million shares valued at N4.62 billion were traded on its floor.
  • First HoldCo recorded 86.41 million shares valued at N3.04 billion.
  • Zenith Bank saw investors trade 83.35 million of its shares valued at N6.29 billion.
  • Nigerian Breweries recorded 68.56 million shares exchanged on its floor, worth N5.08 billion.
  • AIICO reported 65.25 million shares valued at N139.26 million exchanged in investors’ hands.
